GLORY OF THE RAINBOW

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW 2013 INTRODUCTION

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW is a true delight to behold!  "She" is the longest bloomer in the garden and  a very good parent for lovely eyed and edged seedlings.

"She" is a JACKIE'S CHOICE  seedling, and was likely crossed with LAKE EFFECT as the  pollen parent.

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW has just been registered and  lineout begins this Spring with limited  availablity Fall of 2013.

              PLEASE NOTE:
UNFORTUNATELY THE WINTER OF 2012-2013 WREAKED HAVOC ON GLORY OF THE RAINBOW-I THINK WE DIVIDED IT TOO LATE AND DIDN'T TAKE IN TO ACCOUNT THE SUMMER DROUGHT BESIDES- BECAUSE OF THAT , AND BECAUSE WE 'NEEDED' TO USE IT A LOT THIS SUMMER, IT WON'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL FALL 2014 AT THE EARLIEST.

"Her" blooming marathon started on June 30th with a very dry period to follow. On August 27th there were still at least three buds yet to open. She is quite a bud-builder!

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW has pink-ish almond petals with a shaded "rainbow-like" mulberry eye and a double edge of mulberry and ivory. All enhanced by a vivid green throat.

Genesis 9:12-17 is telling of the rainbow as
God's visable promise to mankind to never send another flood over the earth.

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW clump

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X FIRSTBOURNE OF MANY sdlg

HERE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES THIS YEAR OUT OF GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X a FIRSTBOURNE OF MANY F2 cross garden-named 'Great Idea'. It has great saturation of color, an eye to work with for patterns and a wonderful toothy tendrilled edge.

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X FIRSTBOURNE OF MANY sdlg

This is a full sib to the one above out of GLORY OF THE RAINBOW  X  'Great Idea' the F2 FIRSTBOURNE OF MANY seedling. My son Mike did the same cross and this is one of his. This cross has proven itself over and over! We love the clear saturated colors that they are throwing together in this matchup.

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X sdlg 'Great Idea'

another full sib of the seedlingss above from GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X a selfed seedling out of FIRSTBOURNE OF MANY resulting in doubled up genetics for edges and vigor.

GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X NEW AGE CRYSTAL

I really got excited when I saw this seedling because of its wonderful complex eye and its beautiful ivory and purple-lavender edge. The parents are GLORY OF THE RAINBOW X NEW AGE CRYSTAL. Another great plus is the buds and branching and great vigor, all on a one year old seedling! Here's hoping it gets better and better as it clumps up even more.

sdlg 'Fertile Myrtle' x GLORY OF THE RAINBOW

This is a first yr sdlg with great bud ct and branching...36 buds, 6 way branching.  I used my FESTIVE ARTS sdlg named Fertile Myrtle-for obvious reasons and mated it with GLORY OF THE RAINBOW for the wonderful result below. I didn't hesitate to self it this year and gleaned 7 pods from it.
